The United Methodist Church - Glendive - 1950's

"All of the true things that I am about to tell you are shameless lies." - The Books of Bokonon.

1975/1976. The United Methodist Youth Fellowship decides to have mid-winter sleepover party on a Saturday night. The girls will stay at the Jordan Motor Inn (so we all can go swimming) and the boys will stay in the church. For some reason, without a chaperone.

So the boys late in the night climbed the very scary stairs and then a ladder to the top of the bell tower. Where they marveled at the world, and then began throwing snowballs at cars stopped at the stoplight. When someone got out of their car and looked around, the boys ran back down the ladder and stairs, only someone grabbed a bell rope and rang the church bell.

When no one came the boys discovered that they could go up another ceiling access and crawl around the entire second floor ceiling on the beams. But someone fell through the beams by the office, and the boys had to glue the ceiling times back in place and use white-out to cover the broken bits.

And lo, the next morning they sat in church and did grin over their exploits.
